Culturando – Fresh and authentic Italian cuisine

In this article, Aurélie Faber takes us inside a distinctive Italian restaurant in Luxembourg City, known for its authentic Italian cuisine and fresh, carefully prepared dishes. A story of passion, family and tradition, bringing the flavours of Italy to the heart of Luxembourg City.

Culturando is much more than just an Italian restaurant in Luxembourg City

It is a story of passion, family and authentic cuisine. As a child, Dario already worked in his father’s restaurant, where he discovered the secrets of recipes from the beautiful “Provincia di Salerno” in Italy, where his family originally comes from. After completing his law studies, he decided to take on the challenge of opening his own restaurant in 2014, with the support of his father: Culturando, a name derived from the word “culture”.

« Manger est culture, parce que l’homme a inventé et transformé le monde à travers elle. Il est le reflet de notre identité ainsi qu’un instrument pour l’exprimer et la communiquer. »

“Eating is culture because humankind has shaped and transformed the world through it. It reflects our identity and is also a means of expressing and communicating it.”

Massimo Montanari (Original in French; English translation by author)

The young and dynamic team is full of people from the Salerno region and who are passionate about their cuisine; a true nod to their roots. The atmosphere is very warm and family-like. What makes the experience unique is that there is no fixed menu! Every morning, Dario and his team get together to prepare a new menu of around fifteen dishes, freshly made using local vegetables, often from their own garden, as well as some of the finest products from their home region. The owner comes to your table to recommend an Italian wine that pairs perfectly with your dish. As soon as you step through the door, you feel transported into the warm atmosphere of a small Italian village. Everything here is simple and relaxed, yet incredibly refined. Guests feel at ease, almost as if they were at home. You’ll literally fall in love with the place and the food. Once you’ve tried Culturando, you’ll always come back.

I also love the terrace, where I can spend hours with friends on summer evenings, simply enjoying the wonderful atmosphere and a beautiful sunset. When the weather is less favourable or you are looking for somewhere a little quieter, the small indoor dining room on the lower level is very cosy: blue and white Italian tiles on the walls, wine bottles and cookbooks dotted around the room.

A little further from the city centre: Take the bus no. 4 or 10 from the City Centre and take a short walk to the restaurant.

Gudde Moien!

My name is Aurélie and I’m passionate about Luxembourg City.

An actuary by profession, I can’t wait to share its secrets and hidden gems with you! As a mum of three (so my organisation is spot on – or nearly there), I use every spare moment to explore, try things out and, above all, uncover lovely spots to recommend to you. Deeply committed to community life, I also co-run a community hub with friends from my neighbourhood — a lively spot where people meet, chat and build connections. When I’m not buried in my Excel spreadsheets or out guiding, you’ll probably find me in trainers: I love running, hiking, travelling and discovering new cultures. Meeting people, understanding other ways of life… and bringing back loads of ideas and great spots to share here!

So, shall we explore Luxembourg together?
