The geometry of a breath
Venue : Cercle Cité, Ratskeller exhibition space (rue du Curé)
For a fleeting moment, a soap bubble rises, shimmers, and then disappears.
This workshop invites participants to capture and preserve this ephemeral instant through photographic compositions, echoing the work of Justine Blau presented as part of the exhibition SHAPES – Beyond Geometry..
For centuries, the soap bubble has fascinated artists as a symbol of vanitas: fragility, ephemeral beauty, and the fleeting perfection of human aspirations. From Rembrandt to Chardin, and later Manet, this motif has continued to inspire artists, extending to contemporary explorations that question, through its iridescent transparency, the geometries of the world.
Made of a thin film of soap that encloses air from within, the bubble forms an iridescent sphere, ready to burst as soon as the film becomes too fragile or at the slightest touch.
The workshop will be preceded by a short guided tour of the exhibition, with a particular focus on Justine Blau’s works.
