The 19th century, the golden age of the Romantic guitar, witnessed the rise of numerous virtuoso guitarists and composers devoted to this instrument, the closest ancestor of the modern guitar.

This concert features some of the most beautiful pieces from the rich repertoire for duos and trios of Romantic guitars, along with several original works for mandolin and guitar. Among them are compositions by the celebrated violinist and composer Niccolò Paganini, who, though often remembered primarily as a violin virtuoso, was also an excellent guitarist.
