Ce concert propose une rencontre originale entre la douceur de la harpe et la puissance des cuivres, une formation rarement entendue. Au programme figurent trois oeuvres, toutes écrites spécialement pour cette combinaison instrumentale. Les deux oeuvres de Jan Koetsier s’inspirent de thèmes issus du cycle Ma Vlast de Bedřich Smetana: l’une explore la célèbre mélodie de La Moldau, tandis que l’autre se base sur le thème de Vyšehrad. Dans “Music for Scrimshaws”, William Schmidt évoque l’art des marins gravant des scènes sur l’ivoire, développée en trois mouvements.
