caroline began as a three-piece in early 2017, evolving out of weekly improvisation sessions and bringing together shared influences from midwestern emo guitar music, Appalachian folk, minimalist classical and various forms of dance music. Following their critically acclaimed self-titled debut LP, the band – now an eight-piece – released caroline 2 earlier this year, hailed by NME as “their most dazzling record to date”.
