Amaury Faye NOLA Quartet
“Rust” evokes wild dances under the rusty bridges of Tremé, tired freight trains crashing along the banks of the Mississippi, sirens echoing through the 9th Ward, improvised rice and beans on a neighbor’s porch, and eccentric young characters filling downtown streets and empty lots with their unlikely costumes. Blending his European composer background with the colors of New Orleans, RUST moves between danceable grooves and cinematic atmospheres, between drive and laid-back moods. Each piece is a world of its own. For this project, Amaury Faye is joined by an outstanding team: legendary drummer Herlin Riley (Ahmad Jamal, George Benson), the brilliant young tenor saxophonist Julian Lee (Jon Batiste, Wynton Marsalis), and double bassist Edouard Pennes, a key figure on the Paris jazz scene. Praised by the press (“Indispensables” – Jazz News, “Hit” – Couleurs Jazz, “4 Stars” – AllMusic), the Amaury Faye NOLA Quartet will present RUST at neimënster for the Luxembourg stop of their European tour; an exceptional event not to be missed.
