María Margarita lives in a mining town in the Atacama Desert in the 1960s, against the backdrop of political change in Chile. As her family is too poor to buy tickets to the local cinema for everyone, one family member is sent to see a film and then report back to the entire family. It is in this particular skill that the young woman excels, thus becoming the resident movie teller.
