Based on a 1957 novel by Hindi writer Kamleshwar Prasad Saxena, Badnam Basti (which translates to “neighbourhood of ill repute”) is the debut feature of Indian New Wave filmmaker Prem Kapoor. The film centers on a love triangle between two men and one woman on the margins of society.
