Shapes are everywhere. They structure living systems, organise natural phenomena, underpin mathematics, and inspire artists. But how do they become a shared language between science and artistic creation?

In dialogue with the exhibition SHAPES – Beyond Geometry., Cercle Cité, in collaboration with Luxembourg Art Week, invites artist Els Vermang and the exhibition co-curators, Anna Loporcaro and Hugo Parlier, to a conversation exploring the diverse scientific and artistic approaches to form.

Through a practice that brings together art, geometry, and digital technologies, Els Vermang investigates the structures and organisational principles that shape our perception of form. Her work reveals how complex systems can generate new visual and sensory configurations, encouraging audiences to take a fresh look at the relationships between nature, science, and artistic creation.

The discussion will offer complementary perspectives on the artist’s creative process, the art-work presented in SHAPES – Beyond Geometry, and the curatorial choices that have shaped an exhibition where art, mathematics, and science engage in a dialogue about the ways we perceive and represent the world.
