Lost in the labyrinth of endless shelves, between bargain goods and branded products, we drown in the options of consumerism. Who hasn't been there? An existential crisis in the refrigerated section: low-fat or sugar rush? True love or bargain hunting? Old ladies searching for change at the checkout – caught in the wrong queue again.

HYSTERIKON is an ecstatic trip through the supermarket of life. With irony and a cynical, sharp tongue, Ingrid Lausund tells of self-discipline and the difficulty of making decisions in an increasingly complex society. In the endless loop of the checkout conveyor belt, we encounter our desires, hopes and abysses. Promising advertising slogans echo through the loudspeakers, the cashier's voice blurring with the one in my head. Everyday supermarket scenes escalate into collective hysteria. Everything has its price, especially life in turbo-capitalism.
