Israel, in the aftermath of October 7. Y., a jazz musician struggling to make ends meet, and his wife Jasmine, a dancer, sell their art and bodies to the elite. When Y. is asked to compose a new national anthem, their choices expose the moral compromise of a polarized society. A daring and polemical film, Yes combines the intimate and the political at the heart of a nation in crisis. Nadav Lapid takes an uncompromising look at the temptation to obey the ruling class and the fragility of artistic convictions in the face of the world’s urgent problems.
