Comedy Show - Bookmarks and Baklava
Stuck in Luxembourg this summer? They say reading a good book is just as good as travel. They're lying. What actually cures existential dread is laughter — and this double bill has two servings of it.
.Jess Bauldry and Ceren Tosun bring you a taster of their works in progress: Book Club and Turkish Delight. Two women, one stage, half a chapter and half a homeland.
This show is for anyone who has ever started writing something — and moved halfway across the world specifically to avoid finishing it. It's a love song for everyone who's never quite fitted in anywhere.
Like its title, expect flakiness, silly songs and some seriously questionable acting.
Headliner bios
Jess Bauldry is a stand-up comedian and writer with genuinely tragic timing: she found her voice the exact same year AI found its. She holds a Master's degree and a Bachelor's degree, both spectacularly useless, and channels them into writing anything that will sit still long enough — short stories, plays, strongly-worded shopping lists — all in the hope that one day she'll finish something. And publish it. And then, in a plot twist nobody saw coming, find people willing to read it. In the meantime, she's settled for the stage instead of the page: at least a comedy audience laughs at the unfinished stuff on purpose. Book Club is her work in progress about being a writer who mostly writes around the actual writing.
Ceren, born in Izmir, is a Turkish comic. By day, navigating the corporate jungle as an expat; by night, a 37 years old immigrant still feeding her inner child with chaos and silly songs. In her free time, training for triathlons, she brings a dark, cynical edge to the stage that’s as strong as a double espresso.
