L’amour c’est pour du beurre
Everyone experiences pain somewhere: in their body, mind or heart. Six people come together for group treatment, guided by a facilitator who is both an artist and a social worker. They come to do theatre in the hope of ‘getting better’, and everyone is willing to attempt staging William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night in a gym.
Through borrowed words or awkward silences, their humanity emerges, confronting us with the loneliness of a world where caring is sometimes neglected. This group is portrayed by masked actors and actresses, providing an additional layer through which to explore the human soul.
As in Twelfth Night, the characters cross-dress. However, unlike in Twelfth Night, they cannot easily love each other. L’amour c’est pour du beurre is an ode to theatre and to the complexity of human beings and their emotions.
