The second session of our Creative Encounters will focus on the artwork Two Things are True (2022) by Ambera Wellmann. The focus will be drawn on mythology, chimeras and esoterism, through acrylic painting on slate tiles.
In this session, participants will be invited to invent their own myths, creatures and symbols. Inspired by Wellmann’s flowing, mixed-body figures, participants will design simple personal mythologies on slate tiles. The rough, natural surface of the tile will become part of the artwork: cracks, grain and texture will guide the paint and ignite playful experimentation.
To make drawing feel easy and accessible, we will provide inspiration materials such as mythological illustrations, creature images, short poems andsimple symbolic gestures. Participants can choose to paint real creatures, invented hybrids, or abstract shapes that feel powerful or magical, as there is no right or wrong.
.All participants’ tiles will be brought together to form a shared tapestry of mythologies, a collaborative installation that highlights each person’s imagination and interpretation of creatures, symbols and hybrid forms.
.As this workshop is part of a series, participants are invited to also participate to the other sessions on 22.03 and 24.05 to discover new artworks and painting techniques.
