CinEast@Mudam - Screening “The Cars We Drove Into Capitalism”

The Cars We Drove Into Capitalism / Колите, с които нахлухме в капитализмаFrom ECHO.lu (Bulgaria, Germany, Denmark, Croatia, Czech Republic 2021)

Feature documentary, 52 min, Englsih subtitles

written, filmed and directed by Boris Missirkov and Georgi Bogdanov

Discover the multinational documentary during a special festival screening in the cosy Auditorium of the outstanding Musée d'art moderne Luxembourg (MUDAM).

Trabi, Moskvitch, Volga… Meet a peculiar bunch of characters, for whom their old socialist car is the most important member of their family. It gives them meaning, a sense of freedom and hope. Their journey back and forth to the past and the future raises questions about the identity and collective memory of some 500 million Europeans today.

"Georgi Bogdanov and Boris Missirkov’s playful documentary is a nostalgic road trip along the Iron Curtain.". (Chris Frieswijk, Cineuropa)
