Introduction to natural dyeing with master dyer Caterina Maioli
The workshop is taught by master dyer Caterina Maioli. It provides the necessary instructions to dye wool, cotton and silk using plants, flowers and food waste.
Registration fee includes a healthy lunch, beverages, material for the course and a sample book for each participant.
PROGRAMME:
10:00 – 10:15 Presentations and introduction (programme explanation and brief introduction to the use of dyeing plants).
10:15 – 12:15 Preparation of the material to be dyed (wool and silk). Weighing and washing the material and calculating the percentages of mordants. Mordant treatment: calculating the percentages of dyes and preparing the dye bath.
12:15 – 13:00 Healthy lunch (a selection of healthy sandwiches, salads and fruit, sparkling and natural water, tea and coffee will be provided for all participants). Weather permitting, lunch will be served on the outdoor patio.
13:00 – 15:00 Dyeing procedure.
15:00 – 17:00 Use of modifiers and sample book preparation with recipes.
