Public artistic intervention in the framework of the European Heritage Days in Luxembourg

The European Heritage Days mark the launch of the Common Scenery project, the fruit of a collaboration between Casino Luxembourg – Forum d'art contemporain and the artist Lara Ruiz (Luxembourg, *1986). This project will be completed in 2025 and aims to create a common ground in a participative way with the different populations of Luxembourg (people of all different ages and backgrounds).

The project is launched with a data base to which visitors can add images of various tile samples from all over Europe. By adding the geographical coordinates of the place where the floor was photographed, a European data base of urban floors is created, which will be used during workshops and discussions for the creation of the site-specific work Common Scenery.

To mark the start of Common Scenery. during the European Heritage Days at Casino Luxembourg, artist Lara Ruiz is presenting Time and Matter (Tiempo y Materia), .a meditative art installation configured with a sculptural and audiovisual presence on the floor of the Aquarium space. The work is part of the artist's Terreno Modular series, which consists of tiles produced in collaboration with neighbourhoods from different cities: Salamanca, Spain; Havana, Cuba; Cáceres, Spain and CDMX, Mexico, reconstructing their streets to reflect on the value of land, cultural exchange and the activation of citizens in the construction of their cities.

The continuation of the Common Scenery project will be carried out over the course of 2025.
