DER JUNGE RICHARD STRAUSS (1864-1949)
Wild, exuberant, self-confident.
Richard Strauss himself was a pianist and violinist from childhood and a passionate chamber musician.
In these early works, one can recognise the future music-theatre composer, the master of tremendous musical build-ups. He knows exactly how to create effects, and one can already hear his unfailing instinct for colours, which he would later handle so virtuously in his tone poems and, above all, in his operas.
