Karla (LUXFILMFEST)
Munich, 1962. Twelve-year-old Karla courageously runs away from her family to bring forward serious allegations of abuse against her father. But in a patriarchal culture marked by silence and repression, she enters a world that meets her story with skepticism. What follows is the tentative formation of a bond with the compassionate Judge Lamy, who offers quiet support as she learns to navigate a flawed system on her own terms. A film in which the unsaid and the unseen become powerful tools of narration. Tournatzés approaches a difficult subject with tact and emotional precision, and Elise Krieps’ impressive breakout role as Karla anchors the film with both remarkable strength and raw vulnerability.
