Father

Otec Slovaquie-Tchéquie-Pologne 2025 | Tereza Nvotová | vostEN | 103' | digital | Cast: Milan Ondrík, Dominika Morávková, Anna Geislerová, Martina Slúková,

►Venice 2025

A tragic mistake shatters the life of an ordinary father, isolating him in guilt and testing whether love and forgiveness can overcome the unbearable. Anchored by Milan Ondrík's stellar performance, which is both deeply vulnerable and compelling, the film blends psychological realism with stark, almost clinical, precision.

“Nvotová and cinematographer Adam Suzin employ long, continuous takes immersing the viewer in the intensity of each moment. The camera moves with the characters, sometimes inches from their faces. And while watching the film, you cannot escape Michal’s torment, his wife’s faltering strength, or the unbearable silences that hang between them.” (View of the Arts)

“Father is a devastating drama about grief, guilt, and Forgotten Baby Syndrome, powered by two raw, heartbreaking performances.” (Loud and Clear Reviews)

“This film is about empathy and acceptance. It talks about a person who makes the biggest mistake we can make, but it also talks about us as human beings … When you accept that you can fail … then you can also accept and understand the other person.” (Tereza Nvotová in Cineuropa)
