The Aristocratic Tomb of Altrier
by Pierre-Benoît Gérard, archaeologist at the National Institute for Archaeological Research, Protohistoric Archaeology Service
Presentation and perspectivesIn 1971, an exceptional discovery at Altrier revealed the tomb of a high-ranking figure dating back some 2,400 years, at the heart of a vast burial mound. Jewellery, a sword, an Etruscan vase… and even textiles, some dyed with colourants that had travelled from afar: so many fascinating clues to this person's prestige. This talk invites you to dive into the discovery and explore the new research that is revealing all its secrets.First lecture in a new archaeology series launched by the MNAHA; the leaflet presenting the full programme will be published at a later date. The talk will be held in French.
