SOUND CONSTELLATIONS – BETWEEN BOWS, STICKS, PICK AND HAMMERS
ROBOTKOVA Hana, piano
ILAS Stefan, harpsichord
CANTOREGGI Sandrine, violin
GAGGERO Luigi, cimbalom
Four gestures, four sound worlds come together in this concert dedicated to Janáček, Kurtág, Stravinsky, Bartók, and Kodály. Throughout the program, the instruments become multiple storytellers, capable of evoking both popular roots and the most modern impulses of the 20th century. The plectrum refines the precision of the attacks, recalls the pulse of dance, and draws clear lines where the shadows of Moravian or Hungarian folklore emerge. At the heart of this soundscape, the cimbalom extends its unique resonance: struck with small mallets, it unfolds a shimmering vibration, at times percussive, at times lyrical, linking the traditions of Central Europe with a resolutely contemporary sensibility.
The piano hammers sculpt more abrupt landscapes: flashes, ruptures, luminous contrasts that reveal the strength and density of the musical languages of Bartók and Kurtág. The bow, finally, opens up the space of song, extends breath, and weaves shifting timbres dear to Janáček and Kodály, each inflection seeming to arise from an inner voice.
Together, these instrumental gestures draw a sensitive cartography of Central European modernism, where tradition and invention intertwine to renew the act of listening.
