Nederlands Dans Theater – NDT 1

EN The world-renowned Nederlands Dans Theater returns to Luxembourg with a new work by Marcos Morau, who joined the company as associate choreographer in 2025. The collaboration marks a deepening artistic bond: Morau previously created Horses for NDT 1. The Valencian artist moves between his own company La Veronal – whose Sonoma and Firmamento have marked recent seasons at the Grand Théâtre – and major European ensembles. He is known for building dense stage worlds where movement, image, sound, and dramaturgy form a single language. His visually arresting works inhabit a territory between surrealism and physical theatre, shaping abstract movement into unsettling tableaux. Developing worlds of playful absurdism and bold theatricality, Morau addresses questions about survival, human behaviour, societal paradox, and collective experience under constant pressure. 

FR Marcos Morau, chorégraphe et directeur de la compagnie La Veronal (Firmamento, 25 • 26, Sonoma, 20 • 21), revient au Luxembourg avec une nouvelle création imaginée en collaboration avec le Nederlands Dans Theater – NDT 1, dont il est depuis peu chorégraphe associé, après plusieurs rencontres artistiques fertiles. Morau est connu pour ses productions visuellement saisissantes, souvent décrites comme des paysages surréalistes, faisant preuve d’un langage gestuel intrigant qui s’inscrit dans un héritage ancré dans le mouvement abstrait et le théâtre physique. Cette saison, le Nederlands Dans Theater l’invite à imaginer une nouvelle création pour ses merveilleux•ses danseur•se•s, virtuoses et polyvalent•e•s du NDT 1. 

DE Das Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT), eine der führenden Tanzkompanien der Welt mit Sitz in Den Haag, ist berühmt für seinen avantgardistischen Stil und seine technische Brillanz. Die Hauptkompanie NDT 1 hat nun den spanischen Ausnahmechoreografen Marcos Morau mit der Kreation eines neuen Werks beauftragt, nachdem er bereits in der Spielzeit 2021 · 22 Folkå für NDT 2 und 2024 Horses für NDT 1 geschaffen hatte. Morau, der seit über einem Jahrzehnt seine eigene Kompanie La Veronal leitet, ist regelmäßig als Gastchoreograf für zahlreiche international renommierte Kompanien tätig. Er zeichnet sich durch eine raffinierte Bewegungssprache und visuell beeindruckende Inszenierungen aus, die wie surrealistische Landschaften wirken. Am Grand Théâtre war er zuletzt in der Spielzeit 25 · 26 mit Firmamento zu sehen.
