Grace and Jackson relocate to a secluded house near his family in rural Montana, where Grace pursues her writing career but soon falls pregnant. Frequently left alone with their baby while Jackson travels for work, Grace bears the weight of isolation and unmet desires as her domestic life becomes increasingly claustrophobic. With the relationship under strain, Grace’s behaviour becomes increasingly erratic as depression tips into psychosis. Adapted from Ariana Harwicz’s 2012 novel, Die My Love delivers a ferocious portrait of psychic volatility under the pressures of motherhood. Career-defining performances from Jennifer Lawrence and Robert Pattinson give shape to the film’s uncompromising intensity, which was recognized with a Palme d’Or nomination.
