Pierre Nimax sen. (1930–2021) hat als Dirigent, Pianist, Organist, Komponist, Sänger, Pädagoge und Hofkapellmeister die Musikgeschichte Luxemburgs über Jahrzehnte mitgeprägt. Erstmals werden sein Leben, sein musikalisches Werk sowie sein Einfluss auf das Luxemburger Theater, die Revue und das Musical, die Luxemburger Männerchöre und die Militärmusik beschrieben. Bislang unveröffentlichte Dokumente und Fotos aus dem Nachlass in der Nationalbibliothek geben Einblick in ein bewegtes Leben der Nachkriegszeit.
