Description
At the crossroads of significant societal and environmental trends, the Sustainable and Engaged Futures workshops aim to bridge the gap between science and the public. Inspired by the "science café" model, we invite participants to engage openly with experts, ask questions, and express their opinions through these six interactive public discussions. Each forum is designed to be an inclusive space where diverse perspectives are welcomed and valued. We aim to strengthen the bond between society and the University by promoting direct interaction, openness, transparency, and public engagement. Join us on this exciting journey to bring science closer to the community and work together towards a sustainable and engaged future. Let's make a difference through meaningful conversations and collaborative efforts. Our third workshop is a captivating public discussion with Prof. Christian Vincenot and Dr. Kseniia Kravchenko from the University of Luxembourg, on the vital roles bats play as bioindicators in the face of climate change and urbanisation. Presented in both French and English, this open-air forum will highlight how bats reflect the broader environmental impacts of climate shifts and expanding urban landscapes.Discussions will delve into the effects of climate change on bat behaviour, migration, and habitat, highlighting their crucial role in maintaining urban biodiversity. Following the public discussion, participants will embark on an engaging field excursion equipped with ultrasound bat detectors and thermal cameras. This hands-on experience will provide a unique opportunity to observe bats in their natural habitats and understand their adaptations firsthand. Don't miss this chance to connect with experts, share your thoughts, and deepen your understanding of the intricate relationship between bats and our environment. Let's explore together how these remarkable animals can guide us towards a more sustainable future. Date and time: .31 July 2025 - 18:00-21:00 Venue: .Pétrusse valley Price:
