You love original accessories, one of a kind pieces are your obsession… then IAMBAG is made for you!
About the project
The past few years, the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) has organised a number of events in the heart of Luxembourg City during the summer months.
To increase visibility, these events had to be advertised in a way to grab visitors’ attention. Promotional banners, created and placed in various locations by the agency Repères Communication, were used to attract large crowds while also helping visitors navigate their way around the venue.
After the events,a huge pile of dismantled banners was left … so what to do with them? We had to come up with a solution to repurpose the promotional material.
The LCTO together with the agency Repères quickly agreed on the idea of giving a second life to the banners by creating useful, attractive and unique objects. And so the idea of the IAMBAG bags was born! We teamed up with the tailoring department of the Kielener Atelier ATP a.s.b.l., a sheltered workshop for people with mental illnesses, for the production of the bags.
The LCTO was pleased by joyful design, the practicality and the uniqueness of the first prototypes made by the seamstresses. The production of the backpacks and shoulder bags made from old promotional banners has started and is now in full swing.
A bag full of values!
Fosters people in the psychosocial rehabilitation process.
Recycling of unusable advertising materials.
Each bag is unique. Chose IAMBAG for one of these reasons...or for all of them!
Each IAMBAG is handmade in Luxembourg at the Kielener Atelier, the first workshop set up by ATP a.s.b.l. in 1990. The workshop is approved for the supervision of 55 people who work in cooking, sewing, carpentry or locksmith.
The workshops are committed to opening up the field of work opportunities for people living with mental illness by encouraging them in their psycho-social rehabilitation process through access to jobs in work environments conducive to recovery.
