Description

At the crossroads of significant societal and environmental challenges, the Sustainable and Engaged Futures public discussions aim to bridge the gap between science and the public.  Inspired by the "science café" model, we invite participants to engage openly with experts, ask questions, and express their opinions through these six interactive public discussions. Each forum is designed to be an inclusive space where diverse perspectives are welcomed and valued. We aim to strengthen the bond between society and the University by promoting direct interaction, openness, transparency, and public engagement. Join us on this journey to bring science closer to the community through discussion and collaboration for a sustainable and engaged future. Our fifth workshop is an enlightening public discussion with Dr. Nicklas RIEKÖTTER from the  department of Geography and Spacial Planning at the University of Luxembourg, on the multifaceted potential of fruit trees in enhancing food security, mitigating climate change, and transforming urban and rural landscapes. This workshop will delve into both the scientific and practical aspects of integrating fruit trees into various environments. We'll explore species selection, care techniques, and the ecological benefits of fruit trees. Participants will gain insights into the role of fruit trees in carbon sequestration, biodiversity enhancement, and the creation of resilient local food systems. Our interactive exchange will also cover innovative approaches to incorporating fruit trees in urban planning and landscape design, with a special focus on applications relevant to Luxembourg's unique urban and rural contexts. Don't miss this opportunity to connect with experts, share your ideas, and be inspired by the transformative power of fruit trees. Let's work together to cultivate a sustainable future where our landscapes are greener, our food systems are more resilient, and our communities thrive..From ECHO.lu
