Lael Neale
Support: Entrance
American singer/songwriter Lael Neale crafts minimalist drone pop infused with poetic lyricism, blending influences from folk, gospel, and psychedelia with a DIY ethos. A brilliant lyricist, she has a unique ability to uncover the extraordinary within the mundane.
Her latest album, Altogether Stranger (out May 2), is said to capture the disorientation of modern life through haunting melodies and raw, intimate production. The LP covers an unexpected breadth of musical and lyrical terrain—from garage rock nursery rhymes and creation myths to Motorik dance dirges and solitary Omnichord meditations. No doubt this new release will cement Neale as a singular voice – both observer and outsider – finding beauty and absurdity in the everyday.
Hit by a car in March 2020 in an accident that left him with a traumatic brain injury, experimental guitarist Guy Blakeslee – aka Entrance – pursued physical and spiritual recovery with music as his primary medicine. Armed with beginner’s mind and a cassette 4-track, Blakeslee began to experiment with wordless, impressionistic songcraft. His latest release, Extravision (2024), is the transcendent result – a record that aims to induce in the listener a trance-like state. Definitely an interesting way to start the night!
