« Lotte Reiniger’s The Adventures of Prince Achmed is considered to be the oldest surviving animated feature film. Besides it’s a lovely fairytale from the One Thousand and One Nights, the reason of my selection is more related to technical aspects. I firstly came across the silhouette animation technique on Michel Ocelot’s Princes and Princesses years ago and I immediately fell in love with it. Later, I discovered, indeed, this technique was used by Lotte Reiniger in 1926, almost 100 years ago, and she had to film every frame one by one for 3 years to complete her film, I was totally fascinated. » (Mehmet Emin Kurucu)
