Practical information

Sunday shopping during the festive season

On the following Sundays, November 24 as well as 1st, 8, 15, 22 and 29 December 2019, the capital's stores will be open to allow residents and visitors to shop in this special Christmas atmosphere (list of stores open and opening hours: www.cityshopping.lu).

Respect for the environment

As in previous years, the City of Luxembourg is stepping up its efforts to promote and maintain respect for the environment during Christmas celebrations, in particular by setting up a deposit system and reducing the waste.

Deposit system at Christmas markets

Thanks to the commitment associations that occupy the cottages in the downtown area, meals and drinks offered at the Christmas market will be served in reusable materials, such as glass or porcelain. Visitors will be able to collect the deposit by returning them to the stands.

Vel'OH! and public transport

Please note that every visitor can contribute to the respect of the environment by using vel'OH! or the City's bus network (bus.vdl.lu) to get around the city.

Buses

The City of Luxembourg would inform you that all the lines (1-33) of the capital's bus network, as well as some RGTR lines and the tramway line, are free on Saturdays and shopping Sundays in the territory of the City and neighbouring municipalities (details: busgratuits.vdl.lu). This service is offered by the City of Luxembourg in collaboration with the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure.

Accessibility for people with special needs

Christmas markets are accessible to people with reduced mobility. For further information, the persons concerned are asked to contact the “Intégration et besoins spécifiques” unit via phone: 4796-4215.

Public toilets

During the Christmas markets, the public toilets in Place de la Constitution and Place Guillaume II as well as those in Place d'Armes will be open according to adapted schedules.
