Cycling, one of the most popular sports, and, of course, the bicycle have inspired a great many artists. From Marcel Duchamp's ready-made to the installation by Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, as well as Fernand Léger and Picasso, creators have not been insensitive to the sympathy or the notion of effort and self-surpassion that the bicycle evokes. From paintings to assemblages and diversions, the bicycle now takes pride of place in many museums, much to the delight of visitors.
