Artists' estates and their future. Opportunities and challenges.

Artists' estates and their future. Opportunities and challenges.

// FULL //

Since the beginning of the 1950s, the impetus of artistic creation has stimulated and reinforced the development of cultural life in Luxembourg, as elsewhere in Europe.

How can we safeguard, archive, conserve and, above all, make accessible the estates of artists? Who is called upon to take up this challenge and to put in place the structures and logistics necessary to make it a project of the future? How can we ensure the dissemination of this heritage while allowing an ongoing dialogue with contemporary creation? A vast field of exploration that is fascinating, to say the least - especially since our cultural identity is at stake.

The Gast Michels monographic retrospective provides the perfect setting to address this complex situation in an exchange between artists, estate managers, curators, art historians and national and international experts.

Following the exchange between the participants, the audience is invited to take part in the discussion.
