The Sheep Song
The Sheep Song
Belgian theatre collective FC Bergman always create a buzz at the Grand Théâtre. Daringly experimental, they devise visual and poetic shows with a touch of anarchy. Who could forget the murky splash pool they created in the middle of the auditorium for their wolf and the fox fable Van den Vos? Or the huge tidal wave for the staging of their first opera, Les Pêcheurs de perles?
This time, FC Bergman’s arresting designs are in the service of an original theatre piece without words, bringing the epic struggle of a sheep who wants to become human to glorious life. It is an allegorical tale that borrows from medieval morality, referencing the popular illuminated bestiaries of the Middle Ages, and explores man’s existential desire to transcend his limits.
